I had such an amazing day hanging out with my best friend, Ashley (today’s pic is from her surprise 30th birthday party in Nashville), and her six year old daughter. There’s nothing like mixing productivity with good friends and lots of shopping.
Cliff and I got up this morning and intended to head straight out the door to the gym, but then we ran into a slight issue with my iPad. We were trying to put more episodes of Glee on it so that I can watch it on the elliptical (the Wifi at our gym is horrible) but it kept giving us a weird error. I finally decided to just say f$%^ it and take my phone and listen to Pandora and we went on about our day.
About seven minutes in Ashley called and said she was on her way to the house. I had spent too much time messing with my iPad to be able to get in a full workout before we had to leave. We stayed for 15 minutes and then headed back to the house. It all worked out in the end. Cliff finished his workout in our basement and I definitely burned plenty of calories walking around town for five hours.
When Ashley got to the house we immediately began sorting through my Christmas stuff. Cliff and I have decided not to celebrate Christmas anymore (for numerous reasons that I won’t go into here) and I told Ashley she could have her pick of anything I had…which was A LOT. I’m taking what’s left over to work with me on Monday so that everyone there can take the rest (I hope!)
Once we finished sorting all of the Christmas stuff we decided to head to Kohl’s to look for some leggings for Ashley’s niece. We both also wanted to look for a new outfit to wear on our trip next weekend (that I still can’t talk about because it’s a surprise for Ashley – but I will be sure to write a detailed report when we get back). As usual, I had no luck at Kohl’s, but they did so it all worked out.
Then it was on to Oxmoor Mall…
On a Saturday…
A month before Christmas…
It wasn’t nearly as bad inside as it looked outside, thankfully.
Our first stop was Old Navy because I thought they were having a big sale for card holders…but I was wrong. However, I did find my outfit for next weekend.
And I never would have even tried it on if it weren’t for Ashley. It is totally, 110%….not me.
But I love it.
No pics until our trip though! >.~
After we left Old Navy, we decided to stop and get a pretzel. I hadn’t had lunch and wasn’t starving, so it worked out perfectly. I could indulge and not have to worry about the calories too terribly much since it served as my lunch as well. I knew that I would have plenty of calories with the 15 minutes on the elliptical coupled with all the walking from our shopping excursions. I stuck with the original pretzel (60 calories less than the nuggets and much easier to measure) and the hot salsa cheese, but I only ate half of the cheese.
After we finished off our pretzels, Ashley treated us both to 15 minute chair massages right next door. I had never had one before and it was great! It was a perfect little pick me up and definitely gave us a, much needed, second wind. However, right after we left, my rosacea flared up horribly. It felt like the worst sunburn I’ve ever had and didn’t stop for several hours. I’m not sure if it was the towel that the masseuse used or what, but it was super annoying (and more than a little embarrassing – which I’m sure made it worse).
We left Oxmoor and headed over to The Summit and I struck gold again.
This time in the form of my very first pair of KNEE HIGH BOOTS!
That’s right. KNEE HIGH boots. I can now fit my calf into cute boots…well some cute boots, but that’s all that matters.
They. Are. Adorable.
After we were all shopped out we decided to head to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. The Roadhouse used to be one of my big time binge places. Cliff and I would go and eat 2 baskets of rolls, an appetizer, two huge entrees, and wash it all down with a Coke.
This time I skipped the rolls all together, stuck with water, a few fried pickles, a 6 oz. steak, baked potato (not loaded) and green beans. And felt like a normal person when I left. Liberating doesn’t even begin to cover it.
I can’t wait to post pictures of my new outfit next week. It’s definitely not something that I’m accustomed to wearing…which is typically a t-shirt and jeans, so I guess pretty much anything that is “stylish” would be out of my comfort zone.
I had such a wonderful day, but now it’s time for bed and then up early to do homework and finish laundry. I’m glad it’s a late game tomorrow. Maybe I’ll get the house to myself for a few hours in the morning.
5 more days until I get to unveil the secret trip!
